Born Quách Thị Bạch Yến on June 9th, 1942, in the Mekong River Delta, South Vietnam, Bạch Yến entered the music industry at a young age, encouraged by her mother. She quickly became famous in Saigon for her uniquely deep voice, despite having a natural high mezzo-soprano vocal range. Bạch Yến has retained a particular position in music through Vietnamese songs such as “Đêm Đông” (Winter Night) and songs in French, English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Hebrew languages.
